When Will Future Films Play?
Film Booking. Films play week-to-week from Friday through Thursday.
Every Monday we determine what new films will start on Friday, what current films will end on Thursday, and what
current films will continue through Friday for another week. All films are subject to this week-to-week decision
making process. These decisions are made after discussions with each film's distributor.
When will a Film's Run Start?
Visit our website or call our hotline. After
we decide on Monday (Tuesday at the latest) what new films will start
on Friday, we immediately let you know on our Website
and on our Hotline (ext. #3 - "Upcoming Plans").
Sign up for a weekly email notice. We'll send you an email
message every Monday (or Tuesday) as to what is coming and going on Friday. (Sign up for the weekly email by clicking here or by going to the website.)
We'll call you by phone. If there is a particular film
that you don't want to miss, call our box office (215-345-6789 ext.
#6), and leave your name and telephone number and the particular
fim that you want to see (on the answering machine is ok). We'll
put that on our "Film
Call List," and then we'll call you on the right Monday and tell you
that your film is starting that Friday. (We have two requests regarding
this service: please leave a telephone number where you have an answering
machine,
and please use this service just for the films you most want to see,
and not for every film on the flyer.)
When Will a Film's Run End?
This is most important, since it's about grabbing that last chance
to see a film. This decision happens by the same process - we decide
on Mondays which films will end on Thursday. We immediately let you
know on our Website
and on our Hotline (ext.#3 - "Upcoming Plans"). And if you've signed
up for our weekly email messages, we'll also inform you that way.
(Unfortunately we don't have a phone-call system for when a film ends.) |
Further Whys & Wherefores
Why don't we have a fixed schedule? In order to lock into a fixed schedule
(with the attendant lead-time), we would get films much later in their runs.
Why do some films play for so long?
If we move on from a film that is doing well, its distributor won't give us their films as readily (or at all)
in the future. We try to keep the films coming to you at a constant rate, but every once in a while we seem to
get stuck. It's a little frustrating. But be patient, more good films are eventually coming!
We'll play all these films, right?
Over the course of a year, there will be a few films that we won't get to play. Why? It's usually because of initial unavailability, followed by an early video release.
Be assured, though, we try very hard to play them all.
Special Programming.
And, of course, all of the above only applies to our regular "Preview" films.
We have a whole other world of special fims that play at the County - Cinematheque
Series (Spring and Fall), Hollywood Summer Nights, and Kids Films Series (November-March).
All of these special films have a set schedule - so you can plan
your life around their unwavering certainty. Check our current flyers at
the theater, here on our website, or call us to be put on the mailing list
(215-345-6789 ext. 6).
